Knowing that his race car was capable of winning the Toyota/NAPA AutoCare 150, Smith made a hard charge for the front, avoiding a half-a-dozen on track incidents before lap 75 and gaining five positions. During the second half of the race, Moses battled back and forth between the eleventh and fifteen positions.
With little more than twenty laps to go, Smith felt his car's handling improve and moved the No. 16 HASA Toyota into the top-ten. Moses had worked his way into seventh position when the green flag flew for a green-white-checkered finish. Moses executed one final push to the front to pass two more cars and finished in fifth, his best career finish in NCWS West.
"Duane Knorr and the team from BMR gave me a great Toyota Camry to begin this race season," said Smith. "It was a lot of fun racing at All American Speedway in front of a huge HASA Pool Products crowd. This finish gives us the momentum we need toward our goal of winning our first race in the series. The team is pumped up as we head to my home track at Phoenix International Raceway."
The Toyota/NAPA AutoCare 150 will be broadcasted on SPEED Channel’s Racing Across America on April 7th at 9 am PT. Check your local listings. The next NCWS West will be April 10th at Phoenix International Raceway and will be televised live on HDNet.
