Moses Preps For Toyota Napa Auto Care 150

In the business of auto racing they call Saturday’s (03/01/2008) track test for competitors planning on running the Toyota Napa Auto Care 150 at All American Speedway (AAS) in Roseville, “shaking down the car.” Many of the drivers who will compete for the race’s top prize descended on Roseville for a chance to check out AAS and to fine tune their race cars for the 150, which happens Saturday, March 29 and is the opening race of the season for the NASCAR Camping World series.

It was also a chance for local race fans to get out and see some of their favorite drivers and cars in advance of the season opener, not unlike Major League Baseball fans heading to Phoenix for spring training. The Camping World series has been called the premier driver-development series in the NASCAR family, with many of the competing drivers seeing the series as a possible steppingstone to bigger opportunities

Kevin Green who works for NASCAR and has Roseville roots, having driven race cars at AAS thinks that this year’s 150 will help put Roseville squarely on the auto-racing map in Northern California.

"There is a lot of excitement being generated over this event," Green said. "It kicks off the 55th season for the NASCAR Camping World Series West. It’s a series with a long history and interestingly lots of people associated with the series have Roseville ties. It’s going to be like old-home week."

Local race-car owner Bill McAnally, who is also promoting the 150, will have three entries in the race, including a car driven by Moses Smith.

This is my second year with Bill," Smith said. "Last year we had a lot of ups and downs, there's a big learning curve. Hopefully what I learned last year we can apply this season."
