Smith posted times in the top-ten in both the practices in a field of 55 drivers. In a close qualifying session, Moses put the No. 16 HASA Toyota in row twelve. Only 44 drivers would start the 200-lap race.
Smith gained positions with hard racing and great pit stops by the HASA team. Crew chief Duane Knorr and the team from BMR put the No 16 HASA car on the board in the top ten at lap 79. Smith gained one more spot a lap later and was running in 7th. Under caution, Knorr made the call to bring the No. 16 HASA Toyota in for a final pit stop at lap 95 where he took on fresh right side tires and lap later, fuel. This was their second stop of the race. Smith reentered the race in 12th. Smith would finish the race in 17th and on the lead lap.
