Moses Smith and the Hasa Pool Products Toyota Teamís Podium Finish at All American Speedway

Moses Smith, driver of the No. 16 Hasa/White Flyer Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing qualified seventh and felt confident he would move up in the ranks early in the NASCAR Camping World Series West finale at All American Speedway.  Moses came to the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by Thunder Valley Casino on October 25th seventh in the chase for the series championship and competed before a sold out crowd of more than 5,000 fans. He would finish the race collecting his first podium finish since moving from racing open-wheeled car to the heavier NASCAR stock cars for BMR in 2007.

Last Restart

As fate would have it, the No.16 Hasa Pool Products/ White Flyer Toyota was caught up in a first lap incident that left his vehicle battered and ill-handling.  As Moses explained it, “It was a crazy start. Someone checked up and the vehicle behind me hit the Hasa Camry pretty hard.  It threw the toe off, and my car wouldn’t steer.”

Moses quickly found himself towards the back of the pack.  Around the half way mark of the race, another car behind Moses bumped the No. 16 hard.  "I felt the backend of my Toyota lift up and fall back on the track.  After that, the car began to handle pretty well," Moses recalled.  "I started making up the positions I had lost."

The last thirty laps of the race found Moses in the top five.  He held his own on each restart and was able to move up into third place before the green, white, checkered finish.  "That last restart was tough," he continued. "I was working to improve my position; however, I had to maintain my line in order not to lose any positions."
Moses’ podium finish represents his best showing in the NASCAR Camping World Series West.  It also was enough to move him into sixth place in the Championship points; just seventeen points out of fifth.

"What made this season finale special for me was that I could give the Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer customers an exciting race. I want to thank all the HASA Fans who supported me this year. They are in part responsible for my success this year. When we roll the cars out on track for pre-race ceremonies, and I can hear everyone in the stands cheering for me, I just get pumped up…they are definitely part of the team, their support throughout this year has been phenomenal."

The weather was just perfect for the NASCAR Camping World Series West season finale in Roseville, California.  The temperatures lingered in the eighties under a clear sunny sky.  Sponsors Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer held a generous hospitality BBQ Dinner, for over 250 HASA Fans before the 8:35 p.m. race.  Along with dinner, each guest was given a goody bag filled with race memorabilia which included a t-shirt, hat, flashlight and a 1:24 Scale Die Cast Model of the Toyota Test Stock Car.

The No.16 Hasa Pool Products/ White Flyer Toyota team had a very productive season with ten top-tens and three top-five finishes.  "Our crew has worked very hard this year, helping me progress with each race." Moses acknowledged.  "NASCAR is truly a team sport."     Moses also wanted to give special thanks to Craig Raudman who served as the crew chief for the final two races.

Moses also earned two "Powerade Power Move of the Race Awards" and recorded laps led at the Douglas County Speedway race.  The team is looking forward to attending the NASCAR Awards Banquet on November 1st, 2008 in Sacramento, California.
