12 - ALTAMONT "200" -
Tracy, California |
For the first time in history, the Grand National cars and Sprints will share an exciting program! Located on 83 acres just outside Livermore, California (Alameda County), "Altamont Speedway" first opened its gates on July 22, 1966. Throughout its long history, the track--variously known as Altamont Speedway, Altamont Raceway, Altamont Raceway Park and Altamont Raceway Park and Arena--has hosted a wide variety of events. It also has attracted some of the biggest names in racing history, including notables such as Foyt, Andretti, and Unser.
In 2006, the facility was refurbished by new investors and opened under the new name of Altamont Raceway. The historic facility today is a unique, multi-venue racing destination for many motorsports competitors, as well as a fan-friendly, family-friendly entertainment facility for the more than 6.5 million residents living within a 90-minute driving distance in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley. |
